Quartz Rock Crystal From antiquity until the Middle Ages, rock crystal was thought to be petrified ice (Greek: krystallos). Mountain people believed that gods and spirits lived in palaces made from rock crystal. They also believed that it quenched thirst. Nero used to drink his wine from rock crystal goblets. { I want one . . . ! } Today, Native Americans still put this "holy stone" in every new born baby's cradle. Buddhists use this stone to help achieve enlightenment. From time immemorial, the crystal ball used by clairvoyants has been made of rock crystal. Since rock crystal amplifies energy, scientists have used it to help transmit radio signals, etc. Applied to the body, rock crystal can alleviate pain ans reduce fever. It has an invigorating effect, especially on weakened intervertebral disks. It helps treat stomach, bowel, and heart problems. Its positive energy removes mental blocks ans promotes a sense of justice. Crystal spheres held in the hand have a calming effect. Rock crystal can revive numb paralyzed parts of the body. With its coolness it can stop minor bleeding and reduce blisters caused by burns. Rock crystal has an enlightening effect on all chakras. It is a particularly good combination stone because it opens up all chakras for relaxation. In addition, it reduces the strength of stones that are too powerful during meditation. Keep in mind while using rock crystal during meditation, that it amplifies energy, whether positive or negative. It is associated with Leo, Gemini, & Capricorn As a geode in the room, rock crystal reinforces the effect of other stones. The larger the stone, the more power it develops. Always store rock crystal necklaces overnight in a bowl of dry tumbled hematite stones. Rock crystal should be cleansed once or twice a month under running water and recharged in the sun. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Rose Quartz This is one of my favorite stones . . . and for the life of me, I cannot remember where I got it ! I am thinking I probably bought it at a rock shop. This particular specimen is double terminated . . . meaning that it developed a point at both ends. A rare find, indeed ! According to legend, Eros brought rose quartz to the earth in the hope that its beautiful color would arouse love and desire among people. It has been perceived as an important fertility stone for many centuries, as it still is today. Since the Middle Ages, rose quartz has been given as a love charm to young girls. Rose quartz is found naturally as a piece of quartz the size of a fist. It is the most effective stone against damaging radiation. Placed next to the computer, it can prevent headaches and eye fatigue. Placed next to the bed, it is effective against earth and water radiation, thus improving the quality of sleep. It is important to discharge the stone once a week under running water. Rose quartz stimulates the circulation and thus increases sexuality and fertility. It relieves pain associated with shingles & has a refreshing effect. Psychologically, rose quartz strengthens friendships, combats love sickness and opens the mind to beautiful things. Rose quartz is most effective on the heart chakra. It symbolizes trust and brotherly love. It is also helpful in affairs of the heart. It is linked with Taurus, and as a secondary stone for Libra. Cleansing: Rose quartz can manifest its powerful energy even when simply placed in a room as a raw stone. It is discharged under running water or among thumbed hematite stones. It is best recharged overnight in an amethyst geode. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Rutilated Quartz Rutilated Quartz has proven it's self over and over to be one of the most healing stones there is. Rutilated quartz is transparent rock crystal with golden needles of rutile arrayed in patterns inside. Every pattern is different and some are breathtakingly beautiful. The inclusions are sometimes called Venus hair. Rutiles are highly charged energetically. In addition, the rutiles, pointedly direct energy to the source of the problem allowing its discovery & healing. Rutilated quartz fosters insight, helping us to tune into the reasons behind occurrences and to integrate this learning, eases depression and clears negativity. It is also a stone of manifestation, but you’ll need to be particularly mindful of your requests, as rutilated quartz interfaces strongly with the 3rd chakra and correct use of the will. When doing 'remote viewing' I often use this stone for it's energy. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Ghost Quartz or Phantom Quartz My sister Rita gave me a beautiful little specimen that I cherish. I think I selected this little one from her for the same reason as I selected the Herkimer Diamond from a rock shop so many years ago . . . It is double terminated ( Has a point at both ends ) and has a tiny little black marking that is a focal point. I like it . . . Ghost Quartz Herkimer Diamond Phantom Crystals are to be used with the crown chakra. The white phantom crystal will allow us to manifest Universal Awareness. Great to stimulate meditation by focusing on the inner beauty. You will find that meditation comes rather easily. It is one of the stones to be used for the redemption and cleansing of the earth, initiating the healing. Phantom Quartz can also be used to access the records of ones progression through past lives, and assists in transition, conscious completion, parallel life recall, and the synthesis of the Soul. I have seen some ghost quartz that are filled with liquid ! I am still looking to obtain one of these . . . ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Smokey Quartz I used to find these stones in the Castle Rock area in Colorado ( while searching for Topaz. ) Most were about the size of my thumb, and the clarity was premium ! When I was back in Colorado a few years ago, I found some beautiful jewelry for sale made with Smokey Quartz. I enquired about the price ( pair of ear-rings ) . . . and was shocked ! They were selling for well over $100 a pair . . . and I was giving away these crystals by the handful ! Ha ha Smoky quartz is a brown transparent quartz that is sometimes used for unusual faceted cuts. The commercial market is limited due to the limited demand for brown gemstones. This variety was sometimes known as smoky topaz in the past, which is incorrect and misleading, since the mineral variety is quartz, not topaz. The use of Smokey Quartz is much like all other quartz crystals. The color brown is associated with earth, the soil, the dense matter from which all growing things take root. It has a comforting and centering energy. Brown stones are regarded as "grounding" in healing work. Smokey Quartz is the brown or black variety of quartz, which is thought to have undergone exposure to radiation during it's formation. Smokey Quartz is often found in granite rocks that still show a tiny amount of natural radioactivity. Smoky Quartz forms well-defined six sided points and is a mineral as hard as clear quartz. They were popular in jewelry in the 1920s and 1930s, particularly in brooches and pendants of neo-Celtic design. Smokey Quartz helps to strengthen and ground your energies and clear away negativity. Meditation with the stone helps to transform turbulent emotions. It can help to build sexual vitality when used on the lower abdomen and the base of the spine. Smokey Quartz on the computer protects against electromagnetic radiation, when placed on top of your monitor. In antiquity, smoky quartz was used as a protective stone. It was said to warn fighting soldiers of danger by turning darker. Because of its dark color, the ancient Romans considered it a mourning stone that helped overcome grief.
