August 09, 2010 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ An update on the caterpillars and a quick look at the garden. I put a cage over the herb box so that the birds would not get the caterpillars. They ( the birds ) frequent the front porch, keeping it fairly free of spiders and what not. Didn't want them to see the caterpillars and have a lunch of them ! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ They have just about eaten all of the parsley, so I punch pieces off my plants on the side flower beds and poke them in the soil. I am keeping this herb pot VERY wet, and the parsley is not wilting at all ! Lucky for them ! Here are the 4 catterpillars. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Caterpillar A - The original one that I spotted. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Caterpillar B, Noticed him a couple of days ago. He has DOUBLED in size since then ! ( Should have taken a picture of him when I first noticed him. ) ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ And here are the 2 caterpillars that are so tiny, it is hard to tell WHAT they are ! If it turns out that these are nuisance caterpillars, I will remove them. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ And before I close off, a quick look at the garden. Planted a few days ago, and things are beginning to sprout. WAY COOL ! 4 varieties of lettuce Radish Still waiting on the spinach to sprout. Will take a little longer to show. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ That's it for now ! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Close page to exit or Home . |
