Celestite Energy: receptive; Planets: Venus, Neptune; Element: water Powers: Compassion, eloquence, healing Celestite: Often confused with quartz, celestite is found in colors of translucent blue & white. Sites where blue celestite is found have been almost exhausted, so it has become very rare. It derives its name from the Latin caelestis, which means "heavenly," because of its sky-blue color. In ancient Greece it was believed that the stone only worked if it had been given to its owner by a friend or relative. It would then protect the body from all kinds of evil. The ancient Romans used the stone for its healing properties, it calming & fortifying influence on the mind, & its ability to drive evil out of a person. This stone encourages the healing of wounds & regulates the menses in women. It's also effective in alleviating pain caused by tension. By relieving anxiety, it's helpful for insomniacs. Celestite symbolizes the easing of tension & equilibrium. It works to calm its possessor. It works well on the throat chakra & is connected to both Capricorn & Gemini. Celestite should be cleansed in a bowl filled with tumbled hematites. The points of the crystals must be positioned so that they always point toward the sky. It only needs recharging occasionally, & this should be done briefly in the sun. { Note: Not all stones should be charged in the sun. Rita mentions that Barite, if left in the sun ( as with a lot of stones ) will turn milky and fade. } This is what Pauli has to say about Celestite. Magickal uses: Celestite is worn or carried to create eloquence and to promote compassion for the earth and our fellow creatures. Especially when placed on the third eye, Celestite opens a connection to the universal energies. It brings a vision of peaceful coexistence with the whole of creation and holds the possibility of total harmony. It has a high vibration and is a teacher for the New Age. It is imbued with divine energies. It takes you into the infinite peace of the spiritual and contacts the angelic realms. It jump-starts spiritual development and urges you toward enlightenment. It is an excellent stone to put under your pillow when working with dreams, or just helping to recall dreams better. It is also used to relieve headaches and tension in the body, for it removes stress from the physical form. A large piece of celestite placed within a room heightens the vibrations in that room. Do not place in direct sunlight, as the color will fade. If you are lucky enough to have a separate room for your altar or for meditation, this is an especially wonderful stone to have there. { Personal note from Pauli . . . } In case anyone wants to know, the book I use most (for the magickal stuff) is Scott Cunningham's "Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem and Metal Magic". Of course, anything Scott wrote is alright by me. My favorite book for healing information is "The Crystal Bible" by Judy Hall. { This is also the same book that Belinda recommend. ISBN 1-84181-175-0 } (I am hoping to study with a lady in Boulder who was trained by Judy.) Other useful books, especially for beginners, or those who aren't actually "studying on" crystals but do want to use them are "The Pocket Guide to Crystals and Gemstones" by Sirona Knight (a GREAT starter book, which includes how to cleanse and program, and info on their various uses), and "The Little Big Book of Crystals and Stones" by Connie Islin, which is basically info on the stones themselves. . |
